Situated in the historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s Old Town. The Radisson Blu Hotel offers 238 luxury bedrooms and suites offering stunning views over Scotland’s capital city.

Our brief:

To renovate the buffet dining/breakfast room. The existing space was tired and unable to cope with the logistical demands of busy service times. Activity space was cramped and practical storage insufficient. Furthermore, the room was dark and unwelcoming with inadequate ventilation and task lighting.


Ergonomics and flow were key to the success of this project. A specifically designed island was positioned to allow function and storage from both sides.

A bespoke extraction unit was installed into the island canopy above new slimline induction hobs.
Time spend analysing the movement of guests and carefully calculating activity spaces now ensures that the space flows freely, even at its busiest times.

Clearly defined zones separate produce and warm LED lighting enhances the presentation. Antibacterial engineered stone provides a practical work surface as well as a stunning look. The finished room is both spacious and elegant.
